Edition uncertain. Title page reads as follows: FAIRY TALES by the BROTHERS GRIMM Translation by Mrs. Edgar Lucas, Lucy Crane, and M. Edwards BOOKS, INC. BOSTON NEW YORK (No Date, No Edition). There is a woodcut illustration on the ffep verso with this note under: With their tiny fingers they began to sew (page 284). . . . referring to The Elves and the Shoemaker story. This is the only illustration. Following the title page is the Contents, listing 52 stories beginning with The Twelve Dancing Princesses and ending with King Thrushbeard. The last numbered page is p. 315. This was apparently not an expensive book when it was printed. There is no head- or footband. The boards are bluegreen with title and publisher printed in black on the spine only, under five horizontal bands. The boards are bumped on all corners & spine ends. Hinges are weak. Spine much sunned. The back cover is stained across the top area and there is a sm spot of, perhaps, fingernail polish near the bottom of the back hinge. Back end pages are foxed. Pages are tight, lightly tanned with the edges browned.
