The popular "Library of South Africa" which was originally sold door-to-door -- with the Salesman's Sample book included, with blank order pages at back. Spiel, Edition Uncertain. The Salesman's Sample book has a gate fold on the front cover that displays the 2-1/2" spine of the actual book adjacent to a pasted-in sample of another spine in red leather (the half morocco deluxe edition); contains about 150 assorted sample pages of text & illustrations with blank order pages at back (the publisher is indicated on the title page of the Salesman's Sample but not on the large volume). Both volumes are in about the same condition; somewhat darkened with age, gilding faded, cover illustration a bit rubbed, spine ends & corners lightly bumped & rubbed, edges faded, text a bit agetoned, quite crisp & clean. The large volume inner hinges are broken through the endpapers but the binding is still quite strong. Promoted as "Four Books in One Volume": I. Pictorial History of South Africa. II. Life of Paul Kruger. III. Life of Cecil Rhodes. IV. The British Boer War.
