Spine ends & corners lightly bumped & rubbed, damp wrinkles on back cover near spine, name inked to ffep, pages crisp, offwhite, edges lightly faded.

Red cloth, black lettering and decoration, color print applied to front cover, 258pp, color print on frontis & 2 others in text, c.1907 by The Outing Publishing Company. Complete with VINTAGE G&D BOOKMARK! Spine slightly cocked & sunned (lettering quite legible), ends bumped, edges faded, name penciled on front flyleaf, same name-stamp on back pastedown, text & illustrations crisp & clean. Dust jacket abraded at spine ends, has a thumb-sized open tear on front top near spine, two small closed tears at bottom hinges, long vertical crease front & back, in clear mylar cover. "Novels of Distinction" G&D BookMark has two small closed tears apparently mended with clear tape by previous owner. "A New Departure in Bookselling" on back touts ". . . the reprinting of new editions of superior quality . . . at the price of one dollar . . ."

Brown cloth, black-stamped lettering on spine & front, blind-stamped circular ill. on front, xvi, 381pp, Index of Bird Illustrations, Index. Spine ends bumped and rubbed with 1/4" split at top of front hinge,1/8" split at bottom, corners sharp but lightly rubbed, some speckled color loss spots near front top & bottom, edges faded, both inner hinges broken through to mesh cloth, lacking front free endpaper else text & ills. is complete, supple, bright, clean. Profusely illustrated by a master photographer. Many noteable pictures, including the one on p.142 captioned: "A bed of water hyacinth I arranged for reproduction without seeing the snake, which was threatening me, among them." (Yes, if you look closely, you can see the critter.)

Brown cloth, black-stamped lettering on spine & front, blind-stamped ill. on front, frontis. photo ill., xvi, 381pp, index of bird identifications, index. Later printing, c.1919. Table of Contents of 17 Chapters. List of [71] Illustrations (b/w photos taken by the author). Pictorial dust jacket with photo of bird & chicks in nest, B&W with red hue. Spine cocked, ends lightly bumped, sharp corners, two small adhesiver residue spots on title page near top & bottom edges near spine, endpapers faded but text is bright & clean. Dust jacket has a 3" open tear across the spine panel top and onto the front panel with about 1/2" loss, partially into the title lettering on both panels, also a 1/2" x 1" open tear across the spine panel at the words "Illustrations from Photographs" with the first word missing, there is other chipping & light creasing, front flap bottom corner is clipped and a $2.00 price rubber stamped nearby, protected in a new Gaylord brand archival clear plastic cover (removable).
