Blue cloth, black-stamped lettering on spine, illustration of elephance & clown on front, 190pp illustrated with b/w sketches. Originally published in Switzerland in 1942. Translated from the German by Helen Stirling. Dust jacket with blue front panel, illustration of Michael on his elephant. Spine cocked, ends & corners bumped, a bit of light rubbing on covers bottom edges, usual internal ex lib markings but none on exterior. Dust jacket spine ends bumped with two tiny closed tears at top, small area of light label adhesive residue near bottom, wholly intact, protected in a new Gaylord-brand archival clear plastic cover (removable).
